While We Are Still Here is honored to present the 9th Annual Sugar Hill Music Festival. We are pleased to announce that seven-time Grammy® Award nominee Nnenna Freelon will headline this year’s festival.
Freelon launched her recording career in 1992 with Columbia Records and has since built an internationally celebrated body of work with acclaimed albums such as Tales of Wonder (2002) and Blueprint of a Lady: Sketches of Billie Holiday (2005).

- Jenn Jade Ledesna
- Lavender Light, The Black and People of All Colors Lesbian and Gay Gospel Choir, with Eric Williamson, Artistic Director.

Nnenna will be reading from her book, Beneath the Skin of Sorrow, and presenting her soulful, inimitable vocal stylings.

Join While We Are Still Here for a community meeting to help shape the next phase of the SIGNS OF THE TIMES: Harlem Markers Project. This session invites Harlem residents and organizations to identify the individuals, organizations, and events that deserve permanent public recognition. Free and open to the public.
